Ensuring Standards and Efficiency
Excellence Behind the Scenes
The Administration Division provides a wide range of services to support the operational functions of Tulare County Probation. This division is responsible for implementation and review of policies and procedures, fiscal management, training, external audits, internal studies, information technology functions, and community relations. All efforts of this division are aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness throughout the department.
Professional Standards Unit
The Professional Standards Unit is responsible for the hiring process which includes written testing, oral interviews, a comprehensive background investigation, administration of the Computerized Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA), and other examinations pursuant to state guidelines for Peace Officers.


Administrative Services Unit
The Administrative Services Unit is responsible for leave of absences, accommodations, workman’s compensation, oversight of safety protocols and procedures, and the implementation and review of policy and procedure.
Community Outreach & Education Unit
The community outreach team assists with social media, community engagement, branding, and educational opportunities for the department. This includes community outreach opportunities such as presentations, resource/career fairs, classroom lectures and volunteer opportunities.


Training Unit
The Training Unit works in collaboration with the Standards and Training for Corrections (STC), a committee of the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) of the state of California, to improve the professional competence of sworn Peace Officers in the department. In addition, training opportunities are afforded to all department staff in the RELIAS portal, a learning management system which holds approximately one-thousand training videos to improve the professional development of staff.
Systems and Procedure Analyst Unit
The Systems and Procedures Analyst Unit supports administrative activities through the recommendation, assessment, and oversight of department internal operations and technology systems.
